Hello there, and welcome. I’ve always been an explorer at heart. For me, the line between a sprawling virtual landscape and a sun-dappled hiking trail is beautifully blurred. Both offer a sense of wonder, a story to uncover, and a world waiting to be discovered. That’s the common thread you’ll find woven through all of my passions, whether I’m behind a screen, a camera lens, or the cover of a good book. My gaming journey is less about the highest score and more about the “aha!” moment.
Let the Games Begin
I thrive on clever design and intellectual challenges, which is why I’ll always have a special place in my heart for the brilliant puzzles of Portal. I was also completely captivated by the artistry and hauntingly beautiful music of Braid; while my husband tackled the controls, I loved being the second set of eyes to help unravel its temporal conundrums. For years, I found my home in the vast, living worlds of MMORPGs. I was a devoted resident of Azeroth back in the day, though my path diverged from World of Warcraft when the mists of Pandaria were announced. I also truly enjoyed my time in the dynamic universe of Rift.
Discovering Worlds
These days, you’ll most likely find me navigating the open seas and vibrant continents of ArcheAge (and its private server successor, ArcheRage), drawn to its sandbox freedom and player-driven narrative. My love for immersive worlds extends beyond the fantasy genre; one of my most memorable digital experiences was simply walking the educational and story-rich “Discovery Tour” of Ancient Egypt in Assassin’s Creed. Give me a world steeped in history and lore over a high-octane action sequence any day.
Beyond Games
When I do unplug, it’s usually to trade my keyboard for a pair of hiking boots and my camera. There’s a unique tranquility in finding the perfect vista after a long climb, waiting for the light to hit just right, and capturing a moment that tells a story all its own. The same sense of awe I feel cresting a digital mountain in-game, I find on a real-world trail, surrounded by nothing but the sounds of nature. And when the trail ends and the day winds down, there’s always a book waiting. Reading has been my original escape, the first portal I ever found into other lives and other worlds.
